View our range of grain mills here.To create Gladfield’s Peat Smoked Malt, our wonderful Distillers Malt is smoked in our in-house smoker using 100% New Zealand peat. The resulting malt is infused with a traditional mild, soft earthy flavour with phenols 40+ppm. This malt is primarily suited for making single malt whisky but is also great when used to flavour Scotch ales or darker maltier beers.

Gladfield Biscuit malt

Gladfield Biscuit malt is made by gently roasting kilned dried ale malt. The resulting malt is ideal in small amounts for Light/Mild Ales and Bitters to give a dry finish to the beer with out too much colour.

Gladfield Malt's recommended malt substitutions:
For 1kg of Bairds Amber malt, replace with 1.8kg Gladfield Biscuit malt instead.

Gladfield Dark Crystal malt

Gladfield Crystal Malts are made in a specialized roasting drum. The emphases are on sweetness and evenness of crystallization. The evenness of colour is achieved by using the latest technology in malt roasting and heat recirculation. Crystal malts can be used in varying amounts and intensities to an array of beer styles to add colour, flavour, and aroma to the beer. It is important to use crystal malts fresh to get the best results.

Gladfield Roasted Barley

This product is used in the production of dry or bitter Stouts and other dark beers, or for the careful adjustment of Pilsen beer colours.
Roasted Barley, as the name suggests, is made from unmalted barley. It has a slightly darker colour than our Gladfield Chocolate Malt range and is ideally suited for use in a Dry Stout. Roasted Barley adds a lovely rich roast flavour and dark espresso like flavours to brewed beer. Like all roasted malts, it should be used fresh to get the best out of it. -
Bestmalz Caramel Hell Malt
(bulk product - please select amount on product page)BEST Caramel® Hell – known as BEST Caramel® Light – reinforces the typical “caramely” malt aroma of the beer, giving it a mouth feel that is reminiscent of vanilla and cream toffee. The color of the beer ranges from golden hues to amber, depending on the amount used in the grain bill. The foam and flavor stability of the beer are also improved. As with BEST Caramel® Pils, only the best two-row summer barley varieties are used together with our gentle BEST caramelization technique to make this outstanding specialty malt.
For Helles, Märzen, wheat beers, light beers, reduced-alcohol and non-alcoholic beers, all golden to amber-colored beer styles.
Recommended Quantities: Up to 50% of the grain bill.

Gladfield Chit Barley Malt

Gladfield made Chit Malt upon request from clients who were keen to use this product to improve the body and foam in their beers, particularly sour beers.
A great malt to achieve superior foam stability. In our opinion a must malt to use in Sour beers, Saisons, Hazy beers and Low alcohol beers.
Flaked barley is no longer available and Chit malt is a direct replacement. -
Weyermann Beech Smoked Barley Malt

Bestmalz Red X Malt
(bulk product - please select amount on product page)BEST Red X® is a malt that has become synonymous with red-tinted beers. As it can make at 100% of the grain bill, there is no need to add any other malt. Thanks to its exceptional process reliability and optimal processability, BEST Red X® can be employed to brew consistently fiery beers with intense reddish hues. The malt was designed for a 12°P beer. To retain the red color in stronger beers, some BEST Pilsen Malt should be added to the grain bill due to the higher wort gravity.
Base malt for all red and red-tinted beers, amber-colored beers, red-tinted wheat beers, red-tinted Alt, Red Ales, dark beer with a red tinge and many others.
