Winexpert 8L Sauvignon Blanc wine kit

Winexpert 8L Sauvignon Blanc wine kit

Hi all!

Dan here, here is some interesting info on a Winexpert 8l Sauvignon Blanc wine kit I did recently.

I have to say first off that this wine kit was super easy to make and the instructions that came with the kit really gave me an insight into how wine generally is made.

The kit contained yeast, clarifying agents, wood chips and sulphite (optional).

I followed the instructions from start to finish, and if I remember rightly the process took 6 weeks before I decided to siphon the finished product into bottles.

Being the impatient person I am, I decide to take a sample about 2 weeks later. So I cracked a bottle!

My initial thoughts were not bad. But soon after I had this not so pleasant taste hit my palate. I wasn't going to enjoy this wine and I ear-marked the whole batch for distillation into brandy.

Fast forward about 6 months and bored about of my brain from isolation due to covid I decided to get prepared for distilling the wine.

A cheeky sample before emptying the entire batch into my boiler revealed that this was too good for distilling! "Abort abort!" was the message running through my head.

So I guess some things just need time and this Sauvignon Blanc has really improved substantially. I'm not a huge white wine drinker but this is good stuff.

I now have a Cabernet Sauvignon waiting to be brewed which I'm very excited about!
