To create Gladfield’s Peat Smoked Malt, our wonderful Distillers Malt is smoked in our in-house smoker using 100% New Zealand peat. The resulting malt is infused with a traditional mild, soft earthy flavour with phenols 40+ppm. This malt is primarily suited for making single malt whisky but is also great when used to flavour Scotch ales or darker maltier beers.

Peated malt is used by some malt distillers to impart a smoked or peaty flavour to their spirit. This type of malt may also occasionally be used as a very small inclusion in brewers’ mashes to produce beer with a smoked character.
Peated malt is made using exactly the same production regime and barley as (plain) distilling malt during kilning. The peat smoke is absorbed onto the surface of the drying malt which, when processed, imparts the smoked peaty flavour to the finished product.

Crafting 2.25 litres of authentic-tasting spirit from each 28ml bottle, Essencia essences deliver an authentic flavour every time.

Use this flavour essence to make a sour mash whiskey that is enjoyed by both whiskey and bourbon lovers.

Simply add the contents of the bottle to 2.25 litres of spirit or vodka and shake until fully blended.

Use this essence to make a sweet flavoursome corn whiskey with orange and smoke tone.

125ml flavours 2 litres. Mix with 40% spirit or vodka. Bottle age for 14 days.

Pour over ice to enjoy full flavour.
