Freestyle Manilita Experimental Hops - Pellets (NZ)
Manilita is the latest experimental hop from Freestyle Hops and has been performing well in trials. This Manilita lot has field aromas of Pink Grapefruit, Mango and Nectarine. It can hold its own in hop forward styles but also plays well with terpene heavy supporting actors like Southern Cross or Rakau.
Flavour and aroma impact:
Whirlpool additions: Sweet Mango, Stonefruit and Pink grapefruit.
Dry hopping post fermentation: Nectarine, tropical and Citrus zest

New fav smashable beer, thanks to Manalita!
I love Manalita hops and want to make it a permanent fixture in my inventory. I finally got around to brewing 30th June (& now drinking!) a version of my Grapefruit XPA (30L batch, 4.5%) with 200g Manalita that I bought last December. My original recipe included 10g Warrior, 110g Riwaka, 60g Citra through boil and whirlpool stages, then 200g Riwaka and 50g Citra dry hopping, plus dehydrated grapefruit peel. Changing up the recipe with Manalita, I basically reduced the amount of Riwaka overall by 200g and replaced with Manalita and didn't bother with the grapefruit peel. It has come out super refreshing. It still has the grapefruit vibe I was going for. It still has some of the Riwaka terpenes I love as well, but more reduced into the background. Really well balanced! I highly recommend this hop.
