Questions & answers

What do I need to start canning homebrew beer?

You need a can seamer, a 24V DC power supply for it, empty cans with lids, and beer that is already carbonated, because the seamer seals the can but does not carbonate it. The Cannular semi-auto seamer is a bench-top machine that seams a can in about 3 seconds; its 24V power supply is sold separately and the supply made for the manual Cannular is not suitable for the semi-auto unit, so check which one you are buying. The machine is set up for 500ml cans and also seams 330ml cans, and cans from other suppliers may need a different die. Order a few spare cans, as up to 5% of empty aluminium cans can arrive dented in transit. A can and bottle filler is optional: it purges oxygen from the can and then fills to a set level, which helps keep the beer fresh.
